Getting back into professional life after almost 20 years’ time-out with the family was more difficult for me than I expected. Although I had completed an apprenticeship and had 10 years’ work experience as a technical draftswoman, I was classified as “unskilled”. Friends told me about Walbert-Schmitz and we quickly had a discussion and concrete plans were made as to how I could contribute to the company. They supported me with a four week AutoCAD training course, in which I learnt to convert my previous knowledge into digital skills.
So today I can support my colleagues and work with them on their projects. They are always helpful and answered many questions at the beginning. At the same time, I supervise fascinating projects and work enthusiastically regardless of the scope of the project.
The bond in the team and throughout the whole company is great and the way in which Walbert-Schmitz looks after the families too. Visiting Aachen’s Christmas theatre production with the children is a lovely tradition and childcare in the summer holidays is a huge support for the families. As a mother with two now grown-up daughters I would have welcomed that very much in the past.
